John Van Wisse

John Van Wisse born during 1972 or 1973 is a veteran Australian swimmer and swim coach. He has been swimming since at least the 1990s.[1] Van Wisse set a record when he ran, swam and cycled from London to Paris.[2]

Swimming

Van Wisse swims to make money for charity.[3] Van Wisse started training at the Brighton swimming Baths when he was a teenager.[4] Dawn Fraser is someone Van Wisse says he credits to for his endurance.[5] Van Wisse once got misidentified as an illegal immigrant while swimming during the 2010s.[6] Van Wisse trained the youngest swimmer to swim the triple crown Dan Canta.[7] Van Wisse has done running with trainer John Locco the founder of the Brighton Icebergers, a group of cold water swimmers.[8] [9] In 2017 The Victorian government sponsored a function Wisse did with boxer Sam Soliman who is a mutual friend of Van Wisse and Locco.[10] Brighton Iceberger and former Premier of Victoria Ted Baillieu described Van Wisse as an elite swimmer[11]

Personal life

Van Wisse is the brother of fellow long distance swimmer Tammy van Wisse.[12]
