John S. Hayes
John Susskind Hayes (August 21, 1910-October 14, 1981 Jacksonville, Florida) was an executive with The Washington Post and the American Ambassador to Switzerland and Liechtenstein from 1966 to 1969.[1], [2][3]
Biography
Hayes graduated from the University of Pennsylvania in 1931 and was a resident of Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida when he died of congestive heart failure.[1]
Career
Hayes retired after a twenty-year career with the Post, culminating as president of Post-Newsweek Stations and as executive vice president and member of the board of directors of The Washington Post Co. Hayes was a member of the U.S. delegation to the International Conference on Satellite Communications in 1969 and chairman of Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty since 1976.[1]
