Lampson, Kappelhof, and de Leeuw of Chicago Fire defend against FC Cincinnati's Jimmy McLaughlin in the 2017 U.S. Open Cup.

He joined Chicago Fire ahead of the 2016 season. In 2017 he was voted Chicago Fire's defender of the year after 4 assists in 33 matches.[5] He was also selected in the 2017 MLS all star game.[5] In March 2017 he set a record for the most clearances and tackles made in a single MLS match since OPTA records began.[6]
