"Sing Me a Song" (1983) ►

The song is a love song with a simple melody. Van Dijk compares the forces of nature and the seasons (birds returning from their annual migrations and trees beginning to bear fruit) to the love between himself and his lover, drawing the conclusion that neither of these events can be stopped. Van Dijk also recorded the song in an English-language version, under the title "Breakaway".

The song was performed sixteenth on the night, following Israel's Avi Toledano with "Hora" and preceding Ireland's The Duskeys with "Here Today Gone Tomorrow"). At the close of voting, it had received 8 points, placing 16th in a field of 18.

It was succeeded as Dutch representative at the 1983 Contest by Bernadette with "Sing Me a Song".

gollark: We must consider that it it is a ridiculously complex codebase stretching back years written in PHP worked on only as a hobby.
gollark: UNLIMITED EGGSLOTS but limited hatchling slots.
gollark: PER TROPHY LEVEL!
gollark: We need 100 eggslots and 300 total slots!
gollark: Hmm. I'll try that.
