Jawab (1970 film)
Jawab (transl. Answer; Hindi: जवाब) is a 1970 Hindi-language drama film, produced by the K.G. Vijayarangam under the R.R. Pictures banner[2] and directed by Ramanna.[3] The film stars Jeetendra, Leena Chandavarkar, Ashok Kumar, Meena Kumari in the lead roles and music composed by Laxmikant Pyarelal.[4] The film is a remake of the Tamil movie Periya Idathu Penn (1963), with M.G.R and B. Saroja Devi, which was first remade as the Telugu movie Sabhash Suri (1964), starring N.T. Rama Rao and Krishna Kumari in pivotal roles.[5][6]

Plot
Raja (Jeetendra) lives with his widowed sister Divya (Meena Kumari) in a small village. He is constantly being made a target by the oppressive local Zamindar (Ashok Kumar) and his two children, Sagar (Prem Chopra) and Chanchal (Leena Chandavarkar). The land owner's children decide to take revenge on Raja by getting Sagar married to Raja's sweetheart Neela by cheating in a competitive fight (kept by Neelas father) with the help Bajrangi (Mehmood) Chanchal s lover who makes him antoxicate Rajas drink during the fight . Sagar marries Neela by deceit. Raja vows to Chanchal that he will marry her one day.The Zamindar burns Rajas house and also molests Raja's sister, who commits suicide.. With his Neela married and his sister dead, a devastated Raja heads to the city. Once there, he attempts to put his life together and forget the past. It is then that he meets with another victim of the Zamindar, Bajrangi (Mehmood), who refines him to a new western avatar(Rajkumar) who is now loved by Chanchal who later marries him unaware of the truth.Bajrangi falls in love with Leela(Aruna Irani) on the pretext of learning to be a fighter with Sambhu.The Zamindar gets illusions of Vidya for his misdeeds which is revealed to Raja who thereon let's his children know the truth about their father and also confesses his real identity. Chanchal delivers a son but is not accepted by Raja in spite of asking for forgiveness.The Zamindar gets killed by a person, who is followed by Raja to find that it's his sister Vidya who was alive and has avenged herself .She now commits suicide on trail by the police.But she asks Raja to forgive everyone else vide a letter. Raja lives happily thereafter followed by Bajrangi s marriage.
