Eric Bratcher reviewed the PlayStation version of the game for Next Generation, rating it two stars out of five, and stated that "If you want Track & Field, this is it. That's a pretty big if, though."[25]

The PlayStation 2 and Dreamcast versions received "mixed or average reviews" according to the review aggregation website Metacritic.[36][37] In Japan, Famitsu gave the PlayStation version a score of 30 out of 40.[10] The earliest review of the game came from Nintendo Power, which gave the N64 version a score of 7.3 out of 10 in the March 2000 edition, even though the game itself was not out until three months later.[28]

Kevin Rice reviewed the PlayStation 2 version of the game for Next Generation, rating it three stars out of five, and stated that "For those who have a serious itch to play an Olympics game this year, this is the best of the crop. But it's only still adequate."[26]

gollark: Why encrypt data just going over a wired network?
gollark: Hashing and encryption are completely different.
gollark: Look, it's probably fine if you do it on wired. Why you need to use both I don't know though.
gollark: Hash it? That makes no sense.
