Imphal Airport
Imphal Airport (IATA: IMF, ICAO: VEIM) is a domestic airport located 7 km. south of Imphal, the capital of Manipur state in India. It is the third busiest airport in northeastern India after the Agartala Airport.

Development
In June 2019, AAI implemented ₹3,400 crore (US$480 million) projects for the up-gradation of various airports in the northeastern region. ₹720 crore (US$100 million) will be spent for further upgradation of Bir Tikendrajit International Airport.[5] The project includes a ₹600 crore (US$84 million) integrated terminal building and airside infrastructure like new aircraft parking bays and link taxiways, a new air traffic control tower and a control and technical block.[6]
Incidents and accidents
- On 16 August 1991, Indian Airlines Flight 257 crashed while on approach to the airport, killing all 69 people on board.[7]
