I Like It, I Love It

"I Like It, I Love It" is a song written by Jeb Stuart Anderson, Steve Dukes, and Mark Hall, and recorded by American country music artist Tim McGraw. It was released in July 1995 as the first single from his album All I Want. The song is McGraw's ninth single overall, and it became his third number-one single on the Hot Country Songs chart. It was recorded at FAME Studios in Muscle Shoals Alabama.[1]

"I Like It, I Love It" is an up-tempo, guitar-driven song in which the narrator states that he likes it, he loves it, and he wants some more of it. The lyrics are vague and somewhat suggestive; it is unclear whether, with "it", McGraw is referring to sex, to love/companionship and all that comes with it, or something else entirely. McGraw makes the artistic choice to leave his true meaning ambiguous, allowing the listener to draw his or her own conclusion and interpret the song as they please - they may choose to find it either wholesome or risqué, depending on their individual tastes.

The song appears on the game Karaoke Revolution Country and was also almost invariably played during the halftime of ABCs Monday Night Football. It is also a part of the goal song for the NHL's Nashville Predators; McGraw re-recorded the chorus, replacing "Don't know what it is 'bout that little gal's lovin‘“ with "Don't know what it is 'bout the Predators scorin'.”

The song was featured in an Applebee's commercial in 2018, to promote their Big Bolder Combos. It was also used for an Applebee's commercial in 2005, with lyrics changed to "Don't know how they do it down at Applebee's".

When McGraw performs the song live, he often substitutes "Braves" in the first verse with the name of a sports team that plays in the arena, stadium, or nearest city in which he is performing. For example, when he performs at Staples Center in Los Angeles, he may sing, "I ain't seen the Sparks play a game all year."

Music video

The music video premiered on August 4, 1995 on CMT, and was directed by Sherman Halsey, his usual director of choice, and was filmed during his touring. It was filmed using a pop-up style, where several different scenes appear and disappear at the same time, rather than the usual cutting method.
