The design forms a scaled series with the Hunter 306 and the 326. The Hunter 356 design was developed into the 2008 Hunter 36-2.[3][4]

Design

The Hunter 356 is a small recreational keelboat, built predominantly of fiberglass. It has a fractional sloop B&R rig, an internally-mounted spade-type rudder, a reverse transom, mast-furling mainsail and a fixed fin keel. It displaces 13,900 lb (6,305 kg) and carries 4,000 lb (1,814 kg) of ballast.[1][2]

The boat has a draft of 6.42 ft (1.96 m) with the standard fin keel. The optional shoal draft keel model has a draft of 5.00 ft (1.52 m)[1]

The boat is fitted with a Japanese Yanmar diesel engine of 27 hp (20 kW). The fuel tank holds 38 U.S. gallons (140 L; 32 imp gal) and the fresh water tank has a capacity of 75 U.S. gallons (280 L; 62 imp gal).[1]

The boat has a PHRF racing average handicap of 141 with a high of 150 and low of 135. It has a hull speed of 7.41 kn (13.72 km/h).[2]

gollark: Maybe. I've not really investigated it much.
gollark: For some weird reason minty toothpaste makes me feel a bad burning-y sensation which lasts for a while after I use it, which seems like the opposite of the usual behavior.
gollark: Why would you *keep* that rice?
