Horizon Travel

Horizon Travel or the Horizon Holiday Group was a British package holiday company no longer in existence, but was one of the first ventures into the package holiday market.[1]

Foundation

The company was co-founded by Vladimir Raitz and Lenny Koven on 12 October 1949.[2] The company pioneered the first mass package holidays abroad with charter flights between Gatwick airport and Corsica in 1950, and organised the first package holiday to Palma in 1952, Lourdes in 1953, and the Costa Brava and Sardinia in 1954. In addition, the amendments made in Montreal to the Convention on International Civil Aviation on 14 June 1954 were very liberal to Spain, allowing impetus for mass tourism using charter planes.

In 1974, Horizon was taken over by the Clarksons Travel Group which went bankrupt in August that year.[3]

gollark: I have just had to write this very long SQL query: `SELECT reports.id, reports.report, reports.device, reports.timestamp, reports.flags FROM reports JOIN report_flags ON reports.id = report_flags.reportID WHERE flag IN ('security', 'uninstall') GROUP BY reports.id`.
gollark: Oh, that's a good one!
gollark: Also potatOS, since people ask about it lots.
gollark: Maybe you should add the CC wiki as a FAQ item.
gollark: I might actually have to go for having a flag mapping table thing *and* a JSON array in each incident report.
