History

The first written mention of the village was recorded in 1349, when the brothers Trutvín and Vítek were the owners of Hněvošice. They built a courtyard and a fortress. The courtyard was destroyed by fire at the beginning of the 18th century.[2]

Name

The name of the village Hněvošice is believed to be derived from the first name Hněvoš, although some people believe it was named after the folk name Něboščice.[2]

In 1920, the village was annexed to the Czechoslovak Republic and incorporated into the district of Hlučín. In 1928, it was changed to the Opava district.[2]
