Hercules Graphics Card Plus

[1]The Hercules Graphics Card Plus (HGC+) is an IBM PC compatible graphics controller card released in June 1986 by Hercules Computer Technology, Inc. It is based on the previous Hercules Graphics Card (HGC) and adds support for redefinable fonts called RAMFONT in MDA compatible text mode.[2][3][4][5][6]

Software support included Lotus 1-2-3 v2, Symphony 1.1, Framework II and Microsoft Word 3.[7]

Original retail price was $299.[7]

A variant of the Hercules Graphics Card Plus with on-board TOPS/FlashTalk-compatible network adapter was available as Hercules Network Card Plus in 1988. Reportedly, the card also supports RAMFONT[8][9] but lacks a printer port.

Hardware details

Hercules Graphics Card Plus is an 8-bit ISA card, containing the display controller and a printer port.

The Hercules Graphics Card Plus also contained a specialty chip designed by Hercules Computer Technology, unlike the Hercules Graphics Card, which used off the shelf components.

gollark: My eternally unfinished wiki thing is becoming less eternally unfinished.
gollark: Void Linux is neat. It uses runit.
gollark: you-are-very.gay is available, actually.
gollark: Anyway, my current provider seems quite good, they have an API for automating DNS changes (so I can automatically get wildcard SSL certs and such) and even support DNSSEC.
gollark: Weird that nobody thought of doing that, or that that might be a problem, sooner.
