History

Headup Games was founded in January 2009 by Dieter Schoeller, who became its managing director.[3][4] Operations were formally launched in Düren in April 2009, with Headup also employing executive producer Marcel Aldrup and executive PR & marketing manager Michael Zolna.[5] The first game published by Headup was Twin Sector, an action-adventure games developed by Bremen-based studio DNS Development and released in September 2009.[6] Subsequently, the company signed an agreement with NBG Multimedia that would allow NBG to distribute Headup's games in Germany, Austria and Switzerland.[7] In October, Headup joined G.A.M.E., a German association for the video game industry.[8] By January 2013, Headup employed six people,[4] of which Zolna left the company in early April, being succeeded by Skander Essadi.[9] By June 2014, Headup employed Schoeller, Aldrup and Aldrup's brother Mark as full-time employees, three trainees and two interns.[10]

Deutscher Entwicklerpreis – "Best Publisher" (2012, 2013, 2017)[11][12][13]

gollark: Like how people are mortal and thus decide that death is obviously good because [OBVIOUS RATIONALIZATION] and not evil.
gollark: I mean the generalized thing where once you are in a situation you probably can't escape from you *may* just trick yourself into thinking the situation is cool and good.
gollark: That sounds like cognitive dissonance/weird generalized Stockholm syndrome or something.
gollark: Plus, people break up lots so this is obviously not true.
gollark: Well, you shouldn't trust them entirely, that's ridiculous.
