Harold Bradfield

Harold William Bradfield[1][2] (20 September 1898 – 1 May 1960) was an Anglican bishop who served as Bishop of Bath and Wells[3] from 1946[4] to 1960.

He was educated at Alleyn's School and King's College London.[5] Made a deacon at Michaelmas 1922 (24 September)[6] and ordained a priest the next Michaelmas (30 September 1923) — both times by William Temple, Bishop of Manchester, at Manchester Cathedral,[7] he served a curacy in Prestwich and an incumbency in Oldham.[8] An honorary canon of Canterbury Cathedral,[9] he was Archdeacon of Croydon from 1942 to 1946, then Bishop of Bath and Wells until 1960.[10] He was consecrated a bishop on SS Philip and James's day 1946 (1 May), by Geoffrey Fisher, Archbishop of Canterbury, at Westminster Abbey.[11] He died in office, at the Bishop's Palace, Wells, on 1 May 1960.[12]
