Gummibär is a German international multilingual character and virtual band based in Berlin that performs the Gummy bear-related series of songs on various albums, including I Am Your Gummy Bear and La La Love to Dance. Its video "I'm a Gummy Bear (The Gummy Bear Song)" has over 2 billion views on YouTube.

Name origins and appearance

The name 'Gummibär' is taken from a German brand of bear-shaped gum candies from Haribo introduced in 1920. The highly stylized green blue-eyed obese gelatinous bear character is usually naked except for orange Y-front briefs/underwear and sneakers. Gummibär also seems to be bitten with a small portion of the upper left ear missing. The bear's muzzle or, allowing for anthropomorphism, his mustache and goatee, appear to be sugar-crusted, and the character only has two small teeth spaced far apart on his lower jaw. Gummibär's right iris and pupil is greater in size than the corresponding left-sided features.

Popularity

Gummibär's popularity as a phenomenon is very similar to that of fellow European music phenomenon Crazy Frog, characterized by repetition of lyrics and singing of catchy melodies. Variants of the character's music have been released in more than a dozen languages.

The related products are marketed by Gummybear International, who are responsible for the creation, development, and branding of Gummibär animations, as well as musical content and production. Merchandise includes musical and video products (CDs, DVDs, downloads and ringtones) and video games. The company is headquartered in New Jersey, United States.

In June 2012, Gummybear International gained a licensing and co-branding deal with the Greek toy manufacturer Jumbo.

On August 24, 2012, Gummybear International gained a licensing agreement with Brazilian record label Som Livre that includes deals on merchandising and releases on different formats.

Video

The video, a 30-second CGI pop promo animated in Softimage XSI, was directed, designed and animated by Peter Dodd and produced through Wilfilm in Copenhagen for Ministry of Sound GmbH in Berlin. The original video was a 30-second version of the Hungarian version, "Itt Van A Gumimaci" which was posted on site Mojoflix.com.

DVD

Gummibär: I Am Gummy Bear - The Gummibär Video Collection was released on April 28, 2009 in the United States. The DVD contains a video collection of "I'm a Gummy Bear" in nine different languages, as well as some of the character's other releases. They promote their merch by putting it in their videos at the beginning of the music videos.

Film

Gummibär: The Yummy Gummy Search for Santa was released in the United Kingdom on October 8, 2012,[1] and in the United States on November 6, 2012 from Lionsgate Home Entertainment.[2] It's Gummibär's first feature-length film. Aside from the titular character, it stars Harry, a male chameleon, Vampiro, an Italian vegetarian bat, and Kala, a female cat, as they embark on a search for Santa Claus, who is reported missing on Christmas Eve.[2] The film aired on December 1 of the same year on The CW's Vortexx Saturday morning cartoon block, which billed the airing as a "world premiere".[3][4]

Web series

In 2016, a YouTube animated web series called Gummibär and Friends was released online on the official Gummibär YouTube channel, consisting of one season of 39 episodes.[5] The Hungarian version of the series was released in April 2020,[6] with the Russian version following in May 2020,[7] and the Hindi version in July 2020.[8], Spanish version in August 2020[9] The animation was provided by A Very Good Productions, Gulfstream Pictures, A Stern Talking To and Warner Bros. Animation. It is inspired by the setting of The Bugs Bunny Show.

In a good journey, Mr. Kronk watch a cooking show to prepare the flambé but a call of Gummy interrupts his moment, angry he hangs off and remove the phone line, back to kitchen, he takes paprika but Gummy knock the door and Mr. Kronk screaming and overturn paprika, he smells and cough, burns, and bangs his body on the fridge, open the door and screams Go, Leave, Now Gummy and shut off, back again bangs his head on table and crying, Gummy gives a tissue that Kronk forgot to latch the door and Gummy dances with him until to bangs on table and Gummy jumps over and falls in Mr. Kronk body and says You save me and decides to save them, but Mr. Kronk are absolutely did not and fired Gummy and condemned the door and forgot again to close window and Gummy back here and eliminates all danger but Mr. Kronk take back flambé, when takes honey he steals thel and throws on the window kitchen objects, when Mr. Kronk takes chips, Gummy does multiples errors to do that Kronk coughing and Gummy aspires Kronk trophies thinking that allergies, Kronk run to stop the cinema and screaming help because all the year he's makes flambé while Gummy burns this but the smoke causes that Kronk jumps over an has a bump and Gummy saves Kronk, his mission is accomplished and eats flambé before leaving out, Kronk walk on ketchup, slips and smashes the flambé.
