Gerin (crater)

Gerin is 445-km (313 miles) wide impact crater on Saturn's moon Iapetus, located on Saragossa Terra. It is partially obscured by the larger crater, Engelier, whose formation has destroyed about half of Gerin. Gerin is located at 45.6°S 233°W / -45.6; -233 [1]

Nomenclature

Crater Gerin is named after one of the Twelve Peers in the French epic Song of Roland;[2] this name was approved by the International Astronomical Union in 2008.

gollark: I updated the apioform algorithm.
gollark: Actually, not all GTech™ apinators do.
gollark: Well, once we have one of the desired type an GTech™ apinator/apiogenesis device can easily duplicate it.
gollark: Okay, time to change the apioformic algorithms.
gollark: GTech™ prefers to synthesize apioumbraforms via programmable optical phased array tech.
