Fred Momotenko
Alfred (Fred) Momotenko (born 7 August 1970) is a Russian-born Dutch-nationality composer.

Education
Momotenko studied at the Moscow State Art and Cultural University, Russia. In 1990 he was invited to perform in the Netherlands, after which he enrolled in the Brabants Conservatory, majoring in percussion in improvised music. After graduating Momotenko decided to devote himself to composing Contemporary classical music and continued his study at Fontys Conservatory in Tilburg. In 2006 he graduated in composition with a Bachelor of Music. In 2009 he gained his Master of Music with distinction at Fontys Conservatorium. As a part of this program he followed Sonology at the Institute of Sonology at the Royal Conservatory of The Hague.
Compositions
Tayna Molchania - Тайна Молчания (2019) – for mixed choir. Based on spiritual prose titled "Mystery of Silence" of Eastern Orthodox monk Silouan the Athonite. The world premiere was performed by the Latvian Radio Choir at St. John's Church, Riga Latvia conducted by Sigvards Kļava.
Na Strastnoy - На Страстной (2017) – for mixed choir, a companion piece to All-Night Vigil by Sergej Rachmaninov, Op.37 based on the eponymous poem from the diptych Doktor Zhivago by Boris Pasternak. The world première was performed by Nederlands Kamerkoor at the Royal concertgebouw Amsterdam conducted by Sigvards Kļava.[1] Selected by the ISCM World Music Days Tallinn/Tartu 2019 & Estonian Music Days 40th Anniversary.[2]
Les vingt doigts (2016) – piano four hands for Igor Roma and Nikola Meeuwsen, a companion piece to Les cinq doigts by Igor Stravinsky [3]
Danco Konsonanco (2016) - for heterogeneous ensemble: recorder, pan flute, viola, accordion and percussion. Winner in 2018 of the Prix Annelie de Man Ensemble Black Pencil Prize.[4]

It is the second Prize winner of "150-Years-of-Music-Technology Composition Competition Prize" [5] and the special Prize winner of Festival EmuFest in Rome.

His works have been positively assessed by the jury of VSB Compositie Prijs (2002, Amsterdam), Henriëtte Bosmans Prijs (2006, Utrecht), The Free Sounds Organisation, Linux Audio Organisation (the “150-Years-of-Music-Technology Composition Competition” Prize) 2010,[10] The EmuFest 2010 Prize (Rome, Italy) and selection of a new work during the "ISCM World Music Days 2012" (Ghent, Belgium).[11] The winning ensemble-compositon for Prix Annelie de Man Ensemble Black Pencil Prize 2018 Amsterdam.[12] Selection of the ISCM World Music Days Tallinn/Tartu 2019 & Estonian Music Days 40th Anniversary.[13]
