History

Founded in 2014 by CEO Matteo Franceschetti, Massimo Andreasi Bassi, Andrea Ballarini, and Alexandra Zatarain, Eight was originally started through a crowdfunding campaign, which sold sleep trackers to 6,048 customers in over 50 countries.[5] The company raised $14 million is Series B funding in 2018. The company's last $6 million round was announced in early 2006, and in 2015 launched a crowdfunding campaign that tripled its $400,000 goal.[6]

In October 2017, Eight launched Alexa Skill smart mattress that allows users to use the Echo and other Amazon devices to interact with their mattress and to access their sleep data.[7][8]
