Eoin
Eoin (Irish pronunciation: [ˈo.ɪn̺], sometimes spelled Eóin, or Eoinn) is an Irish name. The Scottish Gaelic equivalent is Eòin (Scottish Gaelic pronunciation: [ˈjɔːɲ]) and both are closely related to the Welsh Ioan. It is also cognate with the Irish Seán. In the Irish language, it is the name used for all Biblical figures known as John in English, including John the Baptist and John the Apostle.

Eoin/Eòin and Eoghan/Eòghan are derived from different roots. Eoghan has a Celtic derivation (possibly 'yew tree') whereas Eoin is derived from Latin Ioannes.
