Dragan Bajić

Dragan Bajić (Serbian Cyrillic: Драган Бајић; born 24 May 1973) is a Bosnian[1] professional basketball coach, former basketball player and former footballer.

Early life

He was born in 1973 in Bludenz, Austria in Bosnian Serb family. Whole life he lives in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Playing career

Basketball

He played for Igokea Aleksandrovac, and in 2000–01 season he won the Bosnian League[2]. He also played for Igokea youth team.

Football

Also, he played football for the Sloga Trn of the First League of the Republika Srpska.

Coaching career

In 2009 he started coaching career in Igokea as the first-team coach. Later he was an assistant coach of Igokea for head coach Drago Karalić.[3]

In 2014, Bajić became the head coach of Bosnia and Herzegovina national U18 team. He led the team to 12th place at 2014 Europe U-18 Championship[4]. From January to December 2015, he coached the Cherno More Port Varna of the Bulgarian League.

At the end of December 2015, he came back to Igokea where he became the head coach. He made interesting results in ABA League and Bosnian-Herzegovinian League. He won three Bosnian-Herzegovinian League championships with Igokea so far. On April 2, 2018, Igokea fired Bajić after the team posted a 7–15 record at the end of the 2017–18 ABA season.[5]

On October 30, 2019, Igokea appointed Bajić as new head coach.[6] On June 9, 2020, Bajić signed a three-year contract extension for Igokea.[7]
