Doug Ricks
Doug Ricks is an American former businessman, University staff, and politician from Idaho. Ricks is a Republican member of the Idaho House of Representatives for District 34, seat A.

Early life
Ricks was born in Madison County, Idaho. Ricks father was Mark Ricks (1924-2016). Ricks mother was Evelyn Tonks. Ricks grew up on a potato farm. Ricks attended Madison High School.[1][2]
Education
Ricks earned an Associates degree in General Agriculture and Farm Crop Management from Ricks College. Ricks earned a Bachelor degree in University Studies from Brigham Young University-Idaho.[1]
Career
As a businessman, in 1987, Ricks became the owner of a computer store in Rexburg, Idaho, until 2000. In 2000, Ricks became a computer lab manager at Brigham Young University–Idaho.[2]
Ricks is an Assistive Technology Coordinator at Brigham Young University–Idaho's Disability Services Office.[1]
In 2016, Ricks ran for seat 34A in the Idaho House of Representatives, but lost the Republican primary to Ronald M. Nate. [3]
In 2018, Ricks defeated Ronald M. Nate in the primary. On November 6, 2018, Ricks won the general election unopposed, and became a Republican member of Idaho House of Representatives for District 34, seat A.[4][1]

In 2020, Ricks decided to run for election to represent District 34 in the Idaho State Senate, after the district's current senator, Brent Hill, decided not to run for another term.[6] Ricks defeated Jacob Householder to win the Republican primary.[3]

Ricks wife is Melissa Ricks. They have five children. Ricks and his family live in Rexburg, Idaho.[1]
