After retiring with the York Region Shooters he was immediately appointed the head coach for the organization in 2014. In his first year as head coach he achieved a remarkable accomplishment by producing the club's first perfect season, and clinching the First Division title along with the CSL Championship. For his performance the league recognized his efforts with the CSL Coach of the Year.

Gomez also played at the international level originally with the Trinidad and Tobago U23. In 2001, he later switched his national commitments to the Saint Kitts and Nevis national football team, and featured in the CONCACAF 2006 FIFA World Cup qualification, 2001 Caribbean Cup, and 2005 Caribbean Cup.

Playing career

Gomez began his professional career in the Canadian Professional Soccer League with the Oshawa Flames making his debut on May 30, 1999 in a match against Glen Shields Sun Devils.[1] In 2000, he went abroad to play in the USL A-League with the Richmond Kickers. During the winter off season he played in the National Professional Soccer League with the Buffalo Blizzard.[2] In 2001, he returned to Canada to play with the Toronto Lynx, where he played in 17 matches.[3] After a season in Toronto he returned to resume play in the CPSL with the Scarborough based Metro Lions.[4] Midway through the season he was loaned to the Toronto Supra, making his debut on August 29, 2002 against the Durham Flames and recorded a goal.[5][6] In 2004, he was selected for the CPSL All-Star team against Boavista F.C..[7]

After a three season tenure in Scarborough he signed with the Vaughan Shooters in 2005.[8] In his debut season with Vaughan he won the Eastern Conference title, and reached the CPSL Championship finals, but the team was defeated by the Oakville Blue Devils.[9] In 2007, he had a brief stint with the Canadian Lions, and shortly after played with the Serbian White Eagles FC, where he won the CSL Championship in 2008.[10][11][12] He would conclude his playing career with his previous club the York Region Shooters (formerly Vaughan/Italia Shooters), where he assisted in winning the First Division title in 2010, and retired in 2013.[13]

International career

Gomez made his debut for the Saint Kitts and Nevis national football team on May 16, 2001 against Haiti.[14][15] He featured in the CONCACAF 2006 FIFA World Cup qualification rounds where he recorded his first international goal against Barbados on June 19, 2004.[16] He also participated in the 2001 Caribbean Cup, and 2005 Caribbean Cup.

Managerial career

In 2014, he made the transition from player to head coach for the York Region Shooters.[17][18][19] In his debut season as head coach he managed to achieve an undefeated season which led to York Region clinching the Double, and winning the CSL Championship by defeating Toronto Croatia in a penalty shootout.[20][21] The achievement marked a milestone as York Region became the second club in the league's history to produce a perfect season after the Toronto Olympians in the 1999 season.[22] At the conclusion of the season he was awarded the CSL Coach of the Year award.[23]
