Coke Studio (Pakistani season 12)

Coke Studio is a Pakistani musical television series. Its twelfth season began on 11 October 2019. Rohail Hyatt was the new producer of the series,[1][2] after Ali Hamza and Zohaib Kazi stepped down from the role.

Season chronology

The last episode was released on 29 November 2019. The season consisted of 20 tracks and one season opener/premiere song, making a total of 21 songs.[3]

Artists

Abrar-Ul-Haq, Atif Aslam, Sanam Marvi, Umair Jaswal, Zeb Bangash are set to return this season and a young and talented musician from Gilgit-Baltistan, Kashif Din is also set to feature this season.[4]

House Band

Nimra Rafiq and Rachel Viccaji will be returning on the show as Backing Vocalists. Season 12 will also feature Coke Studio's first female house band member Veeru Shaan in the role multi-percussionist.[5][6][7]

Production

After Ali Hamza and Zohaib Kazi departure, Rohail Hyatt returned as the producer of Coke Studio Season 12. Speaking at the launch of Coke Studio Season 12,[8] Rohail Hyatt said:

In a world where there are multitudes of information, sounds and conversations to choose from, Coke Studio wishes to offer a space where one can contemplate the reverberations of a single guitar strum or the notes of a few piano keys. Traveling down the ladder of time, from the courts of the Delhi Sultanate and the music studios of pre-revolution Iran, through mountains and valleys, much like the water that trickles down from a natural spring, music came to Coke Studio's canvas. At its core, Coke Studio remains an offering, a space where we share what has come to us.
