Playing career
He began his career at his hometown club Blackpool. "I was 18 when I made my first-team debut against Port Vale at home," he recalled to the Chorley Guardian in 2006.[2] "I then signed a two-year contract under Billy (Ayre)." He then moved to Hartlepool United and then Huddersfield Town, where he was a member of Steve Bruce's Premiership-chasing side.
He left in 2002 to join Rochdale.
Coaching career
He was the caretaker manager at Rochdale for a month, following Steve Eyre's dismissal in December 2011.[3] Rochdale lost three and drew three of the six games in which he took charge before John Coleman was installed as the permanent manager on 24 January 2012.[4] Beech returned to his role as youth team manager following the appointment.[5]
After assisting Keith Hill on an informal basis following his return as Rochdale manager on 22 January 2013, Beech was confirmed as Hill's new assistant manager on 16 May 2013.[6]
Beech left Rochdale along with Hill in March 2019 [7] and was appointed head coach at Carlisle United on 26 November.[8]
