Location

It is located on the route that runs from Kannur town to Azhikode, and it is one of the shortest ways to Mangalore highway from Kannur.

Tourism

Kerala's famous Payyambalam beach is a major tourist attraction in this region. Chalad is no less than a complete entertainer; there are four A class theaters here. This place is the biggest part of Kannur Town. Chalad temple in one of the most sacred and old Aiyyappa Temples in Kerala .And the mosque, one of the biggest mosque in kannur. This area also bears a posh residential area for Kannur. Chalad is the political hub of Kannur Town.

Transportation

The national highway passes through Kannur town. Goa and Mumbai can be accessed on the northern side and Cochin and Thiruvananthapuram can be accessed on the southern side. The road to the east of Iritty connects to Mysore and Bangalore. The nearest railway station is Kannur on Mangalore-Palakkad line. Trains are available to almost all parts of India subject to advance booking over the internet. There are airports at Mattanur, Mangalore and Calicut. All of them are international airports but direct flights are available only to Middle Eastern countries.
