Chakori (Sindhi: چڪوري) a.k.a Chakori Begum; was a film actress from Sindh, Pakistan, She worked in Sindhi, Punjabi and Urdu films and got popularity. Her full name was Chakori Begum, She was born in 1960 in Hyderabad, Sindh to a famous dancer Surieyaya.[1] Whereas, According to her family she was born in Gujrat, India.[2] She was famous for her role Daro Natni.

First movie

Chakori's was introduced in Sindhi cinema film Shehro Feroz in 1968, later her movie was Mehboob Mitha[3][4] of Sindhi cinema, which was released in 1971.[2][4] This movie was directed by A.Q Perzado and musician was J.S Gorchani.Chakori worked in this movie as a side heroine. Urdu film Janwar in 1972 and Punjabi film Kon Sharif Kon Badmash 1977 were her first movies respectively.[3]

Personal life

Meanwhile, the movie Piyaar taa'n Saqday under the direction of Babu bhai, she meet actor Mushtaq Changezi, and married with him in spite of disapproval/opposition by her mother Suraiya. Chakori married with Mushtaq changezi by court marriage. When this couple went to Lahore; they separated/ got divorced after some time. Chakori was given new movie work in Lahore, and she didn't returned with her husband Mushtaq Changezi to Hyderabad, they quarreled and Mushtaq was sent to jail, and the legend actor Mustafa Qureshi helped Mushtaq Changezi in his release from the jail. Chakori married second time with director and actor Kaifee.

Chakori worked in Sindhi cinema movies, her movies were "Jeejal Maau (English: Beloved Mother)",[5] "Sodha Putr Sindh Ja", "Muhinjo Piyar Pukary", "Sindhiri taa Sadaqy", "Acch ta Bhakur payoon",[6] Raat'u aen Ajrak,۽ ’رت ۽ اجرڪ‘[7] these were her famous movies. Her Urdu and Punjabi movies were Mola Jaat, Heera Pheiri, Koounj, Takarao, Dangal, Permit, Badmashi Banda e.t.c. she worked in these movies with various actors including Mushtaq Changezi, Kaife, Sultan Raahi, Badar Muneer, Mustafa Qureshi, Shahied, Muhammad Ali, Yousief Khan, Ghulam Muhi uddin, Anjuman, Saima, Raani, Aasiya, Naghima and Aliya Khan.

Death

Chakori died due to diabetes and heart disease on November 2, 2010 in Lahore, Pakistan,[8] She is buried in Lahore.[9]
