The design was originally marketed as the Capri 18, but the name was changed by the manufacturer to Catalina 18 in 2000.[1]
Design
The Catalina 18 is a small recreational keelboat, built predominantly of fiberglass. It has a fractional sloop rig, a raked stem, a vertical transom, a transom-hung rudder controlled by a tiller and a fixed wing keel. It displaces 1,500 lb (680 kg) and carries 425 lb (193 kg) of ballast.[1]
The boat has a draft of 2.33 ft (0.71 m) with the standard wing keel fitted.[1]
The boat is normally fitted with a small outboard motor for docking and maneuvering.[1]
The design has a hull speed of 5.41 kn (10.02 km/h).[4]
