Promotion and release

The song's title and featured artist were revealed on 1 May 2020 when KSI published the track listing for his upcoming debut album Dissimulation.[1] "Cap" was made available for digital download and streaming via all platforms upon the release of Dissimulation on 22 May 2020 through American independent record label RBC Records, under BMG Rights Management.[2]

KSI explained the song's lyrics and meaning as part of a Genius Verified video interview, which was released on 26 June 2020.[3]

Commercial performance

The song sold 17,496 units in the UK in its first week, debuting at number 24 on the UK Singles Chart and at number 14 on the UK Hip Hop and R&B Singles Chart.[4][5][6]

Music video

A trailer for the song's music video was released on 18 May 2020.[7] The music video was filmed in Los Angeles in March 2020 and was uploaded to KSI's YouTube channel on 22 May 2020.[2][8] It has 9.5 million views.[9] The video is directed by American director TajvsTaj and stars both artists. The video is shot in black and white and is filmed in "a warehouse filled with candles".[10] It features cameo appearances from two of the song's producers, Mally Mall and Diego Ave.
