The boat was built by Buccaneer Yachts/US Yachts, a division of Bayliner, which is itself a division of the Brunswick Boat Group, which is in turn owned by the Brunswick Corporation.[1]
The design was later developed into the US Yachts US 25 and the Triton 25.[1]
Design
The Buccaneer 250 is a small recreational keelboat, built predominantly of fiberglass, with wood trim. It has a masthead sloop rig, a spade-type rudder, a conventional fin keel giving a draft of 4.67 ft (1.42 m) or, optionally, a shoal-draft keel, giving a draft of 3.50 ft (1.07 m).[1][2]
It displaces 3,750 lb (1,701 kg), carries 1,250 lb (567 kg) of ballast and has a hull speed of 6.2 kn (11.48 km/h).[1][2]
The Buccaneer 250 has a PHRF racing average handicap of 219 with a high of 216 and low of 225.[2]
