Brezje v Podbočju

Brezje v Podbočju (pronounced [ˈbɾeːzjɛ ʍ pɔdˈboːtʃju]) is a small settlement in the Gorjanci Hills in the Municipality of Krško in eastern Slovenia, next to the border with Croatia. The area was traditionally part of Lower Carniola. It is now included with the rest of the municipality in the Lower Sava Statistical Region.[2]

Name

The name of the settlement was changed from Brezje to Brezje v Podbočju in 1953.[3]

Cultural heritage

A small chapel-shrine in the eastern part of the settlement is dedicated to the Virgin Mary and was built in the early 20th century.[4]
