History

The battle took place in the year 1733 A.D.[2] The Maratha Empire was in expansion mode and wanted to conquer northwest India from Mughals. Their opponents in this battle were the Kachhwaha Rajputs of Amber (it remains unclear if their suzerain was the Mughal throne at Delhi).[2]

Aftermath

The Maratha victory at the Battle of Mandsaur[3] had the following consequences:

  1. Scindias and Holkars were emboldened to renew their attack on Rajasthan.
  2. Kota and Bundi were made the next targets in the same year by the Marathas.

gollark: Okay, "say/do", yes.
gollark: > have any of the ideologies affected by the things facebook/twitter/whatever do been worth a damn?I don't know. Maybe. I just don't exactly want social media companies having vast amounts of power to control public thought just because they're maybe not misusing it much now.
gollark: I mean, transphobia/fascism/etc aren't really making scientific claims.
gollark: Okay, you are going increasingly far with that?
