Aratano Station

Aratano Station (新野駅, Aratano-eki) is a railway station on the Mugi Line in Anan, Tokushima Prefecture, Japan. It is operated by JR Shikoku and has the station number "M16".[1][2]

Lines

The station is served by the Mugi Line and is located 32.6 km from the beginning of the line at Tokushima.[3] Besides the local trains on the Mugi Line, some trains of the Muroto limited express service between Mugi and Tokushima also stop at the station.[4]

Layout

The station consists of a side platform serving a single track. The station building is unstaffed and serves only as a waiting room. Access to the platform is by means of a ramp from the station building.[2][3][5]

History

Japanese Government Railways (JGR) opened the station on 27 June 1937 as an intermediate station when the Mugi Line was extended southwards from Kuwano to Awa-Fukui. On 1 April 1987, with the privatization of Japanese National Railways (JNR), the successor of JGR, JR Shikoku took over control of the Station.[6][7]
