Apostasy (1948 film)

Apostasy (Japanese: 破戒, Hepburn: Hakai) is a 1948 Japanese film directed by Keisuke Kinoshita. Eijirō Hisaita's screenplay was based on the novel The Broken Commandment by Tōson Shimazaki.[1][2] The film featured Ryō Ikebe, Yōko Katsuragi, and Osamu Takizawa. Kinoshita won the best director award at the 3rd Mainichi Film Awards for his work on this film and the films The Lady and The Portrait.[3][4]
