In 2019, it became the focus of campaigners opposed to the use of LGBT messages in Relationship and Sex Education lessons.[1] These campaigners mounted a sustained demonstration outside the gates of the school before being successfully injuncted by the High Court.[2] The school's headteacher received threatening emails and phone calls.[3] Similar protests occurred outside a nearby school, Parkfield Community School.
The school is mentioned in official accounts relating to the so-called Trojan Horse scandal.
