History

Khalid Jamil is Aizawl 2016-17 I league Winning Manager.

Aizawl FC was founded in 1984 in Aizawl, the capital of the Indian state of Mizoram and have since participated in various amateur tournaments.

In January 2012 they were officially certified by the All India Football Federation to participate in the I-League 2nd Division, the second tier of football in India. This move would begin a new chapter for Aizawl Football Club as they would officially become professional.[3]

In September 2012 they participated in 2012 Indian Federation Cup Qualifiers. Finally, the team qualified for I League 2nd Division after its second attempt. In 2015, they won 2015 I-League 2nd Division and as a result they'll participate in India's top-tier football tournament I-League in 2015–16 I-League, the first team from Mizoram to do so.[1]

On 20 December 2016, Khalid Jamil was announced as the head coach of the first team for 2016-17 I-League.[4] On 30 April 2017, Aizawl won the 2016–17 I-League and became the first team from North-East India to win the league.

gollark: You could *even* connect up an SSD and get amazing USB 3 speeds.
gollark: Technically, a Raspberry Pi is an ARM server if you use it for... server things!
gollark: They're still quite niche and probably expensive.
gollark: It might have an AMD CPU. Or also ARM, but probably not ARM.
gollark: Are you assuming the server's CPU manufacturer?!?!?!?
