- 23 March – A fire at a condominium complex in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam, kills at least 13 people and injures another 27, with most people dying of suffocation or jumping from high floors.[1]
- 15–21 July – The Tropical Storm Son-Tinh hits Vietnam, causing floods and landslides in the areas around Hanoi.[2][3]
- 23 October – Nguyễn Phú Trọng is sworn in to the post of President of Vietnam, becoming the third Vietnamese official to simultaneously lead the communist party as well as serve as head of state.

gollark: Apparently this is mostly due to them explaining the artifacts which are common in synthetic ones, but newer methods don't really have those as much anyway.
gollark: Experiment 2 is after they take some new people and train them on how to detect synthetic ones.
