gollark: Why would you just randomly replace SSDs every year?
gollark: SSDs still cost ~4x more per GB and the reliability is not that different in a stationary system.
gollark: Depends on use pattern - do you want to read only, or read and write lots, or what? In general probably not.
gollark: So yes, anyway, there's non-computer progress and dismissing the computer progress is stupid.
gollark: Modern general purpose compression algorithms are also somewhat better than they were and improving.
