2016 Rio de Janeiro mayoral election

The municipal election of the Brazilian city of Rio de Janeiro took place on 2 October and 30 October 2016[1] to elect a Mayor, a Vice Mayor and 51 City Councillors for the administration of the city. The incumbent Mayor was Eduardo Paes of the Brazilian Democratic Movement Party (PMDB), who couldn't run for re-election due to term limits. The movements before the campaign happened in a context of politic crisis involving an impeachment request during the second term of former president Dilma Rousseff of the Workers' Party (PT).[2]

Notes

  1. The candidate had her candidacy banned by the Superior Electoral Court. Because of that, her votes were not considered.[6]
gollark: I'm waiting for 2020 or so to upgrade. Mostly waiting for Intel dedicated GPUs to hopefully shake up the market.
gollark: It's like saying "Intel is better than AMD because Intel's Xeon Platinum 8280 beats AMD's best desktop CPU".
gollark: But for any realistic scenario cost matters.
gollark: Yes, Nvidia has the current highest performing card around.
gollark: For consumers perf/$ is most important.
