  • June 24 - The Emir of Qatar, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, agrees to spend 2.2 billion Euros to convert Barcelona's La Monumental bullring into a 40,000-capacity mosque, the biggest in Europe.[1]

  • September 6 - Egypt charges former president Mohammed Morsi and nine others for leaking sensitive government information to Qatar.[2]
