1991 US Open – Women's Singles

World No. 2 Monica Seles won her third major of the year with this title, defeating four-time champion Martina Navratilova in the final 7–6(7–1), 6–1, to win the Women's Singles tennis title at the 1991 U.S. Open. Following this win, Monica recaptured the world No. 1 ranking from her rival Steffi Graf, and would end up holding it until her 1993 stabbing.

Gabriela Sabatini was the defending champion, but she lost in the quarterfinals to Jennifer Capriati. This tournament was notable for being the first Grand Slam tournament in which Lindsay Davenport, the 1998 US Open singles champion, competed in the main draw.[1]

gollark: Janet makes a good system scripting language, or a language to embed in other programs. Think Lua or Guile. Janet also can be used for rapid prototyping, dynamic systems, and other domains where dynamic languages shine. Implemented mostly in standard C99, Janet runs on Windows, Linux and macOS. The few features that are not standard C (dynamic library loading, compiler specific optimizations), are fairly straightforward. Janet can be easily ported to new platforms.
