1980 Cumnock and Doon Valley District Council election

The 1980 Cumnock and Doon Valley District Council Election was held on 1 May 1980, the same day as the other Scottish local government elections, and constituted the second election for the Council.

The nationalist Scottish Labour Party, which had won two seats in the prior district election, lost all of its seats. One of the party's councillors in Patna/Dalrymple resigned the party whip, contesting (and winning) the election as an Independent. The other councillor, in Old Cumnock Parish, lost to the Labour candidate.

gollark: It may not be exactly 9% actually but around that sort of figure.
gollark: You do apparently need to apply quite soon, though, unless you wait until next year or something.
gollark: Well, UK student loans are "only" paid back as 9% of your income over £27000 or so, so it actually isn't *that* terrible.
