Cal Poly was a two-year school until 1941, and competed in the California Coast Conference (CCC). The team was led by seventh-year head coach Al Agosti and played home games in San Luis Obispo, California. They finished the season with a record of two wins, four losses and one tie (2–4–1, 0–3 CCC). Overall, the Mustangs were outscored by their opponents 46–93 for the season, including being shut out in three of the seven games.
