Šeštokai is a small town in southern Lithuania.
Railway junction
It is a transshipment hub and railway junction, serving the break-of-gauge between the 1435 mm line from Poland and the Lithuanian network, which uses 1520 mm. Rail Baltica is set to bring standard gauge all the way to Kaunas, and beyond to Latvia and Estonia. An intermediate phase, sometimes called Rail Baltica I, already brought a single 1435 mm track along the existing line to Kaunas, enabling direct trains between Kaunas and Poland.
