Thunderer

The daily ceremonial firing of the Thunderer

The Thunderer was the most powerful phraxcannon ever to built. It was operated by the Great Glade Guard.

Design

The Thunderer was thirty strides long and cast in solid brass. It had to be drawn by a dozen hammelhorns. To fire the phraxcannon, one had to seize and tug a flashpin[1].

Ceremonial use

The Thunderer was used in the daily ceremony of the Great Glade Guard at three hours. Different groupings of the Guard, such as the Freeglade Lancers, the Cloddertrog Constabulary, the Waif Guild and the Outer City Scouts would order themselves in a clearing of a lullabee arch in the Old Forest. A corporal would step forward, would blow a hammelhorn bugle, would then adress the assembled troups and fire the phraxcannon to the raised flag of Great Glade and a cry of "Great Glade!"[1].

Other phraxcannons

The Hive Militia operated phraxcannons of similar size and power in the Battle of the Midwood Marshes. The size of the phraxchambers could be compared to those of phraxlighters and the barrels were twenty strides long[2].
