Society of Descenders

The Society of Descenders was a division of the School of Edge Cliff Studies that was dedicated to venturing below the Edge in pursuit of knowledge[1]. By 600 ᴇ.ʏ., the descenders had reached the beginning of the great fluted decline[2] and quarried rock samples from the cliff face[3]. In 590 ᴇ.ʏ., the original Society was forced to close because of lack of funds, and its members had to disperse to other colleges and schools[1]. Less than a decade later, Ifflix Hentadile revived the Society[1]. However, in 600 ᴇ.ʏ., after the apparent failure of his descending expedition, the Society of Descenders was outlawed, and all future journeys to the cliff’s edge were banned[4].
