Snickets
Snickets were carnivorous flying creatures, related to ratbirds, with long pointed noses and stubby triangular wings. Despite their minute stature, they flew in swarms when hungry and could strip their prey down to the bone within seconds. They were discovered and named by Rook, who witnessed them devour both a pack of skulltrogs and a logworm in mere seconds. Snickets made squealing sounds.[1]

Rook named these creatures, "snickets", and he was supposedly the first to classify them. There were however references to snickets in Clash of the Sky Galleons, which took place over seventy years before Rook's journey to the Free Glades. There is also a snicket-shaped tile in the flood of the Palace of Statues, which was built long before Rook's supposed discovery.
