Shryke tax
Shryke tax was the practice of robbing travelers on the Great Mire Road by extorting unfair service charges for transporting travelers' vehicles and cargo through the Twilight Woods. Shrykes were known to be greedy creatures and made no scruples in stealing travelers goods or replacing them with ones of inferior quality, despite the fact that the travelers had paid a reasonable service charge at the tally-huts for the transport of their goods.[1] Those that complained were either ignored or laughed at.
