Rubble ghouls

Rubble ghouls were predatory creatures found in the Second Age of Flight in Screetown[1] and on the New Sanctaphrax rock[2]. Rubble ghouls had three eye-bumps, six tentacles, two of which were larger than the others, and a fluttering belly-frill, and their bodies were purple, large, slimy, translucent, and gelatinous. They smelled steamy and stagnant. Hover tincture killed rubble ghouls, and turned them red and dissipated their moisture in the process. Rubble ghouls were perpetually thirsty, and they drew their water from other living creatures. Rubble ghouls hunted by pulling their prey inside their bodies and immobilizing them there until their heart stopped. After that, suckers could drain all moisture from the prey’s body.[1]

Role in the Rook Trilogy

In Vox, Rook Barkwater crashed in Screetown, and he encountered a rubble ghoul near a source of water. The rubble ghoul trapped Rook inside its body, but because Rook had a vial of hover tincture as part of his equipment, the rubble ghoul died and he survived.[1]
