Pied herons

"The High Professor of Flight's head jabbed forward like a pied heron spearing an oozefish."
simile about Quove Lentis

Pied herons were birds found in the Mire. They fed on oozefish, which they speared with their beaks. They were very similar to mire-herons, which lived in the same region and were also herons.[1]
