Midnight's Spike

Midnight's Spike was a long, sharp, retractable spike on top of the Tower of Night. The Guardians of Night planned to raise Midnight's Spike during a Great Storm, believing that a sacred lightning bolt passing through the Tower of Night would cure stone-sickness and allow them to take over the entire Edgeworld. When the Dark Maelstrom approached the Tower of Night, Xanth Filatine, removed the bolt which kept it raised. Orbix Xaxis took the place of the Spike to ensure lightning struck the Tower. When it did, however, it killed all the Guardians and destroyed the Tower of Night.
